Graydon Skincare Celebrates Pride Month

June is Pride Month! Keep reading for a list of non-profit organizations that support the LGBTQ2S+ community and discover how we're contributing this year.

 IN THIS ARTICLE:

Supporting the LGBTQ2S+ community is a year-round commitment for Graydon. With family and team members identifying as LGBTQ2S+, some living out loud and others just starting to step into themselves, Pride Month holds a special place in my heart.

Every person deserves to live free from judgment and express themselves with pride and dignity. Being comfortable in your skin and embracing your identity is the heart of our philosophy. After all, confidence gives the best skin glow of all!

Organizations to support

We are excited to share a few LGBTQ2S+ organizations that are close to our heart. Many of these organizations work to support LGBTQ2S+ and marginalized youth. Not only is adolescence a particularly challenging and confusing time when support is needed most, but Graydon recognizes that a better future begins with this generation.

Skylark Youth

Skylark is a Toronto-based charity dedicated to supporting the mental and emotional wellbeing of youth and families. Skylark’s Studio provides a safe space for all LGBTQ2S+ identifying youth and allies to drop in, make connections and foster positive relationships. Their harm reduction approach helps to ensure services are non-judgmental and available to all. The Studio also offers various interactive workshops including dance, art and discussion groups, plus health and sexual education. Skylark is paving the way for LGBTQ2S+ youth in the community to live more happy, wholesome and empowered lives.

Get Real Movement

We deeply align with the The Get Real Movement’s mission to combat discrimination, stereotypes, prejudice and bullying faced by the LGBTQ2S+ community across Canada. Get Real strives to support LGBTQ2S+ youth through interactive workshops and events that educate, uplift and empower individuals from elementary school and beyond. Through virtual counselling and after-school programs, Get Real provides a safe space for LGBTQ2S+ students to express themselves and receive non-judgemental support. The After School Program provides an opportunity for youth to make connections, build friendships, learn new skills and encourage self expression.

Binders Out

Binders Out is a grassroots, non-profit organization based in Toronto that gives trans people access to affordable and safe chest binders. A binder is a clothing item designed to compress chest tissue. Their work helps trans people live confidently and comfortably. For multiple reasons, binders are especially inaccessible for trans youth. Binder's Out offers a solution by using donations to purchase new binders to distribute throughout the community. They are dedicated to providing gender-affirming products so all people can feel safe, supported and empowered to be themselves.

For more information and how to donate, visit their Facebook page here.

Toronto Urban Native Ministry (TUNM)

TUNM is an outreach ministry that helps to support LGBTQ2S+ Indigenous people across the Greater Toronto Area. They believe in the power of song, dance, spiritual ceremonies and togetherness, to heal and create a sense of purpose. In addition to offering a place for worship and ceremonies, their outreach services provide assistance to the homeless, incarcerated, hospitalized, and to those in other institutions. TUNM affirms its dedication to creating an environment where all beliefs can be accepted, honoured and heard regardless of gender and sexual identity.

Organizations we’re supporting

This year, we’re supporting two organizations by donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of Intimacy Oil because feeling comfortable and confident in your skin is so important.

The 519

The 519 is dedicated to serving the 2SLGBTQ community in downtown Toronto and other areas of the city. One of the really meaningful programs they offer is the Trans Youth Mentorship Program that supports trans, two-spirit and non-binary individuals aged 16–29. Their Youth Action and Arts Space provides a fun and affirming setting for kids aged 10–14 to connect and make new friends. From legal advice, counselling services, employment support and interactive sports and recreation programs, The 519 provides well-rounded services to help 2SLGBTQ people live fulfilled lives. There is no doubt that The 519 has made extensive contributions to the wellbeing of the 2SLGBTQ community across Toronto.

This year, we're supporting The 519 by donating 5% of online store sales of 100 mL bottles of Intimacy Oil during the month of June and $1 per bottle for the remainder of the year.

GLAAD

This well-known organization works to accelerate acceptance of the LGBTQ community. GLAADs many programs, such as the GLAAD Media Awards, Studio Responsibility Index and GLAAD Media Reference Guide, help to bring about fair, honest and equal representation of the LGBTQ community in entertainment, news and social media.

This year, we're supporting GLAAD by donating 5% of our Intimacy Oil sales during the month of June.
