What is a "Serious Adverse Event"?
Under FDA guidelines, a Serious Adverse Event is a health-related occurrence associated with the use of a cosmetic product that results in:
- Death or a life-threatening experience.
- Inpatient hospitalization.
- A persistent or significant disability or incapacity.
- A congenital anomaly or birth defect.
- An infection.
- Significant disfigurement (including serious and persistent rashes, second- or third-degree burns, or significant hair loss).
- Medical or surgical intervention required to prevent one of the outcomes listed above.
Information to Include in Your Report
To help us process your report efficiently, please include the following details in your email:
- Product Name: The specific product used.
- Lot Number: Found on the bottom or back of the packaging (essential for tracking).
- Description of Reaction: A detailed description of what occurred and where on the body.
- Timeline: When you first used the product and when the reaction began.
- Medical Care: Whether you sought advice or treatment from a healthcare professional.
